After loosing a courtcase about trademark/production licenses Segmo-Pelle designed a new hull and left out the Smuggler name. It was common knowledge that the Segmo 30 was based on the Smuggler 28. It?s just details that differs - the 26V is the same and travelling with it just as nice.

Segmo-Pelles genius move to make the hull more usable and comfortably furnished gave the hull a new life after racing. The boat is aimed at all those who commute between the city (Stockholm) and their archipelago summerhouse, in every weather conditions and who wants a comfortable ride at marching speeds around 30 knots ? it was spot on!
These commuters did not prioritise bunks, a kitchenette or a WC. The possibility to spend a night was important because the odd occasions would occur but the no 1 priority was however a good deep V hull because it can take powerful engines, high speeds and rough seas. The Smuggler hull was the ideal platform for this archipelago transporter. The boat?s interior is basic and the cabin is just about right.

So to the question! How does the old racing hull suit its new role as a cabin boat? Quite well considering the racing hull?s limited comfort. With a long sleek foredeck and a small aft deck there is really only one place to be ? in the saloon. The best thing about the saloon is the light. Big windows give an outdoor feeling and the sunroofs lets sunlight in. The drivers place is decent and the instrumentation panel basic but with all necessities. The rest of the saloon is predictable with a portside dinette. Under the foredeck its like in any other Cigarette shape boat: first two commodes ? starboard a closet and portside a WC the size of two shoeboxes. In front of the commodes a u-shaped sofa easily made into a double bed and in front a berth for two kids or one adult.
So far the interior. The smallish dinette and the rather low mounted kitchenette is not important to the commuter but to the potential buyers of a fast boat with space for two adults and two kids.

And the exterior: The lines of the boat feels old in a classic way. Off coarse due to the fact that the hull originates from the Smuggler from the mid 60?s the cabin is rather boxy to suit the hull. If it had been designed like modern boats the soul and very essence of the boat would have been lost. The Segmo 30 looks as it does but Segmo-Pelle should have given some more thought to the aft deck ? a few simple modifications and it would have been comfortable for four persons instead of two.

How is it to drive? What can you expect from an old racing hull with a 26 V? It goes like a train. With the current engine a Volvo Penta VP KAD44 it reaches 39 knots and has a pleasant marching speed of 34 knots. At these speeds you can do anything ? the hull is built for 80 knots so 40 is like a doodle in the park. Big waves are cleaved with ease and nor wind nor splashes causes any discomfort. I do have to work quite a lot with the trimming but that is what a 26 V demands. The Segmo 30 is a bit more stabile and lifts out of the water faster than the Smuggler 28 when accelerating. The new hull also rides a bit more silent. Used boats value are high due to the one year waiting list for new ones. Prices range from 65 000 euros and up.

One of the renowned shipbuilder?s most eye-catching models, the stunning Sunseeker Predator 108 is everything a luxury cruiser should be. The interior is spacious and excellently appointed whilst performance and stability at sea is impressive.The Predator 108 cruiser was featured in the James Bond movie 'Casino Royale' in 2006, owned by villain 'Le Chiffre'. It featured several times in the blockbuster, which was filmed on location in the Bahamas.The cockpit house is a central dinette with table and perimeter seating and a sundeck astern, while the alternative version has this outside area used for a dining/relaxation zone to port with a galley/bar corner opposite. In the bow there is a Jacuzzi surrounded by numerous sunbathing cushions. Saloon astern, galley, dining area and control bridge are at first deck. The Predator 108 also has an electric sliding Hard Top, meaning that it only takes a few seconds to turn the area inside the deckhouse into a cool, sunny zone. Master cabin has an en-suite bathroom, 42-inch flat-screen TV, office corner, relaxation corner and walk-in wardrobe. Forwards of this there is a small leisure zone comprising a sofa to starboard and an office corner to port side. The other staterooms ? a roomy VIP forward and two smaller twin cabins to port and starboard ? Needless to say, each cabin has its own separate head with shower, as well and amenities such as: flat-screen LCD, DVD system, Stereo etc. The crew's quarters are in the stern area with two bunks with bathroom and galley.Opulence, performance and arresting beauty place the Predator 108 in a class of her own. She sleeps 6 in three staterooms. The lower deck can be accessed from the pilothouse through the spiral staircase located on the port side. The king size bed, Master suite is located amidships. It contains a projection TV system tied to the KVH Trac Vision and a full sound/video DVD/CD entertainment center. On the starboard side are his & hers heads with a shower/spa in between. There is a duplicate situation-alert panel similar to the one in the pilot house that keeps the guest?s abreast of the bilge/smoke/generator status. Gloss veneer finish, carved and colored acrylic mirror headboard, ample storage, and hidden folding bed highlight the master suite.
There are two Guest staterooms, one forward and the other on the port side. Each has a queen size bed, metallic blue lacquer finish, complete ensuite baths and full entertainment TV-CD-DVD- systems.
The Crew area consists of a captain?s cabin that sleeps two to starboard and a crew mess that sleeps one on the port side. There is a head with a shower. The crew mess includes a TV/sound entertainment system, refrigerator, two burner stove, microwave, settee and laundry.

Salon and dining

The flooring is black and white carpet combined with white granite tile; the cabinetry is a Japanese camphor tree burl veneer with high-gloss finish. All the counters are made out of gold freckled marble from India. In the forward section of the salon there is a dining table for six, that by pushing a bottom in a cordless remote control, automatically converts to a comfortable dining or conference table for ten. Aft to starboard is a white leather L-shaped sofa with a carved glass cocktail table. Facing this seating area is a two counter level bar with refrigerator, ice maker and wine chiller. There is also a built-in blender. Next to the bar is an enclosed 32? Sony TV tied to the satellite KVH Trac Vision System. The video/sound system includes: am/fm receiver,DVD, VCR, and Philips interactive laser disc player. All this operates on a phenomenal surround sound system. There is cookware, china dishes and crystal glasses (Baccarat and Rosenthal) stored in customized, soft padded storage bins. Through another aircraft door in the aft bulkhead you exit the salon to the Cockpit.

The Galley has a pass-through window to the wheelhouse. This ergonomically designed, functional galley features an extensive list of appliances, even an espresso/cappuccino machine.

In total there are 6 cabins - 2 master suites + 4 deluxe cabins, with an extra cabin for crew, which can be converted to a master cabin if required. Additionally, there are 2 crew cabins with 3 berths and toilet/shower for the crew, located near the engine room. A total of 5 crew members can be accommodated. Located at the bow of the vessel is the Master Cabin with deluxe ensuite bathroom which occupies the full beam. Four similar double-bedded cabins are decorated tastefully using mahogany furniture offering private bathrooms and self controlled air conditioning.The Master Suite Aft with bathroom ensuite completes the spacious accommodation quarters for twelve guests. Cabin quarters are totally separate from guests quarters with private facilities.At the bow of the vessel, forward and adjacent to the Galley, lies the Fore Saloon, and behind the Helm lies the Aft Saloon cloaked in classic mahogany joinery. In the Aft Saloon, a group of twelve may dine in style, while enjoying TV, a stereo system with CD and a well-stocked bar. While dining or relaxing, spectacular surroundings are not missed thanks to a carefully thought out design with large windows.The main saloon leads onto the spacious Aft Deck with dining facilities for twelve around the mahogany table. A further U-shaped seating area is ideal for sunbathing and cocktails. The refit in 2008 included the following: Maintenance of all pumps, dynamo, maintenance of engine and starter, water maker, injections of engine, all sunshades and upholstery were changed to brand new covers, new seating group at stern and at front, master cabins changed, beam and masts painted, new windows so all windows were replaced, double plywood between cabins, new waste and clean water tanks plus a new teak deck.
