When this car rolled into the showroom here at Streetside Classics, one of our co-workers said simply, Corvettes dont get much nicer than this, and Im inclined to agree. 1972 was the final year for the slender chrome bumpers front and rear, and while horsepower seemed to be down, that was entirely due to the change from gross to net measurement systems, not because of any hardware changes. This lovely 72 Stingray has been nicely restored to a level usually reserved for early cars with big block engines, and includes some nice options like factory A/C as well as a matching-numbers drivetrain. Reasonably priced Corvettes are out there, and there just cant be many nicer than this. The paint was refinished about 2,300 miles ago, and thanks to a lot of TLC throughout its life, the car needed no bodywork to achieve these results. Code 945 Bryar Blue is one of the less common colors for 1972, accounting for only 1617 units that year. The finish is handsome, not too light, not too dark, but a cool medium blue that looks great on the timeless Stingray shape and might be compared to modern Nassau Blue on some of the newer Corvettes. All the panel gaps are factory correct, and theres a lot less orange peel in the paint than you received in 1972, thanks to careful prep and a good amount of time invested in buffing the finish. And when it comes to C3s, youre either a chrome bumper guy or a rubber bumper guy. This one sports the original style chrome units, which nicely compliment the egg crate grilles up front. With this owner, the chrome was clearly a must-have, as the chrome on this car is top notch. The stainless appears to be all original, and even the accessory luggage rack on the rear deck is a bright, shiny chrome finish with no issues. As a well-maintained original car, the line between the original components and new pieces is blurry, but thats a good thing. The entire interior shows just the right amount of patina, and its very difficult to determine what has been replaced. We know the door panels and seat covers are new, and perhaps even the carpets, which are protected by a set of matching black rubber floor mats. The gauges are all crisp and their lenses are scratch-free, more proof that someone cherished this car from day one. The center console is excellent, and houses the shifter for the 3-speed automatic, as well as an unusual AM/FM radio, which was still something of a novelty in 1972. The A/C blows ice cold thanks to a recent R134a upgrade, although youll want to pull the T-tops off every chance you get to enjoy open air motoring. This car also features a removable rear window, so the experience is almost like that of a roadster for half the price. The engine is the original, matching numbers ZQ3 350 cubic inch V8, which was the base engine in 1972. Nevertheless, it makes an impressive 360 pounds of torque and moves the Corvette with enough potency that most cars are still advised to leave it alone. The engine bay shows signs of loving care throughout its life, and though much of it has been restored and the engine rebuilt, the condition of the inner fenders and firewall suggest that this car has always been clean. Wearing a fresh coat of Chevy Orange paint, the engine really stands out, and details like the chrome air cleaner and ignition shield add a lot of eye candy. With just under 1100 miles on the rebuild, the small block V8 runs beautifully, starting almost instantly and happily running through the rev rage every chance it gets. Power steering and brakes make it a pleasure to drive, and all the major components are either new or rebuilt, ensuring a long, reliable life ahead of it. And if you have concerns about this cars authenticity, have a look underneath, where youll find a solid, original chassis with no issues or warning signs. The original TH400 3-speed automatic still shifts the gears, and a new dual exhaust system was installed during the rebuild. Floors are solid, the brakes are rebuilt, and the fuel system has been freshened, making this a car that you can drive anywhere with confidence. And I have to say that while most Corvettes wear Rally wheels, I really like the wheel covers on this one, which are correct and seldom seen, and it rides on a fresh set of 215/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. Clean, honest Corvettes dont get much nicer than this, especially if youre the kind of guy who likes to just jump in and go. This is a very clean, well-maintained car with barely 2,300 miles on it since the extensive restoration work was complete. Thanks to the rumbling small block under the hood, its a party to drive, and there arent many cars that will generate more attention than this one on a warm summer day. With a setup like this, you can also fire up the A/C and head cross country, because C3s make fantastic long-distance cruisers with their comfortable ride and reasonable storage behind the seats. This one represents a lot of fiberglass for not a lot of money. Theres only one thing cooler than a mid-50s Ford F100 pickup, and thats a panel delivery. This is a mild custom with a few period-appropriate speed parts on the flathead, and its refreshing to see that it has not been chopped, lowered, and stuffed full of Chevy crate motor. Finished in traditional bright red, theres no denying the F100 DNA running through its veins. The bodywork is very well done; getting those rear panels straight cant be an easy task, and the paint has a soft gloss that looks like this one just pulled up in front of the corner drug store, circa 1956. The restorer chose not to put his own logo on the side, leaving that for the next lucky owner. Twin doors at the rear are unique to this model and seal up well, while the front half is almost identical to the pickup truck. A polished grille up front, with a simple single bar bumper give the F100 its timeless good looks, and a matching bumper out back is the perfect complement to the small chrome taillight housings. Theres no question someone spent a big pile of money on this truck, but the real trick was getting it to look so right. The cavernous interior was just the ticket for the guy who had A LOT of stuff to carry. The black vinyl front seat area is nicely restored, with separate buckets for driver and passenger, designed to allow easy access to the storage bay. A black rubber floor mat was the only choice, but its smart because its durable and easy to clean. The instrument panel is full of useful gauges that are all restored and functional, and the all-steel dashboard has been restored to the same standards as the bodywork. And again, the restorer chose to keep it original, skipping the radio and sticking with nothing more than an original Ford accessory heater/defroster unit under the dash. The only upgrade might be the beautiful oak bed in back, because they were surely never this nice when they were new. A warmed-over 239 cubic inch flathead V8 lives under the hood, wearing period speed equipment that makes this the ideal hauler for a traditional hot rod shop. Offenhauser heads, along with a 4-barrel intake sporting a 390 Holley give the flatty a little extra kick, ably assisted by the 3-speed manual transmission and 3.91 gears out back. Finished in turquoise engine enamel, the engine is nicely detailed, and the 12-volt generator up top is a very clever touch. A set of headers dump into a dual exhaust system that sounds awesome, and the chassis is as clean and detailed as the rest of the truck. Painted steel wheels wearing 6.50-16 bias-ply blackwalls are the perfect finishing touch. Its incredibly rare to find one of these in near-stock condition, and even more rare to find one restored to this level. An impressive truck that will draw a ton of attention. 1953 Austin-Healey BN1-100M This car is said to be one of the earliest Healey 100s delivered to the West Coast where it was reputedly raced for several years by its first owner. Apparently the car was disassembled for restoration some years ago and as is often the case the project stalled and the components stored. The project was acquired a few years ago by another gentleman on the West Coast who brought it to Bill Pounds shop in Lake Elsinore, CA. Bill is known primarily for his restoration of Ferraris, many of which have been Pebble Beach champions, but the story is that he took on this Healey project at the urging of its then owner which also involved a certain vintage motorcycle that Bill wanted. This history is largely anecdotal, but we do have records and contact information for the prior owner and Bill Pound is still restoring cars. We recognize that the value of this car is not in its provenance, or race history, but rather in the high standard to which it has been restored and in the potential it has as a show or vintage race car for its next owner. Healey enthusiasts will know that the 100M "LeMans-Spec" model was developed in 1955 and based on the BN2 model. There were about 640 factory-built 100Ms, all BN2 cars, but the 100M components were also available from the factory as the LeMans Engine Modification Kit which could be installed in either a BN1 or BN2 with the engine in place for a substantial power increase. The LeMans Kit could be ordered from BMC. Many cars were modified in period by dealers and private owners. The most value is on 100M cars that are documented to have been modified in period, but some cars, like ours, were modified in the process of restoration using authentic period-correct components. Modifications include the aluminum cold-air box over larger 1 " SU carbs, aluminum Weslake head, louvered bonnet, and more. With its windscreen raked back, and bumpers deleted, this car looks and feels like the true racing machine that the 100M was famed to be. On test the car is fast and strong, sounds great, and rewarding to drive. The car is street legal and the windscreen is adjustable for when you dont want as much wind in your face. The Woods Motor Vehicle Company was established in Chicago in 1899 with an unmatched roster of financial backers to challenge the virtual monopoly on electric vehicles then held by New York-based Electric Vehicle Company. Woods quickly established itself as a leading builder, catering to a demanding clientele with quality, luxurious vehicles built with little regard to cost but careful attention to elegance, simple operation and luxurious appointments. Its attention to the preferences of carriage trade is apparent in this 1905 Style 214A. Described as a Queen Victoria Brougham, its tall, spacious body would be equally appropriate attended by a chauffeur, footman and matched pair of high-stepping steeds. With a wheelbase of only 73, however, and unencumbered by the added length of a team, it maneuvers handily in congested city traffic, guided by tiller steering and riding on varnished wood spoke wheels with solid rubber front and pneumatic rear tires. Formerly in the highly-regarded collection of James E. Cousens, the interior is elegantly appointed in largely original black button tufted leather with pulldown shades on the side windows for privacy, bud vases for ambience and vis-a-vis seating for four. The windshield swings up for ventilation on fine days. The elegant body is built of wood which has been clear varnished for a highly unusual look, complemented by black accents and black leather mudguards. Its most notable feature, however, is that the roof and sides dismount to convert the fully enclosed Queen Victoria Brougham body into an open runabout for especially lovely days and informal events. This is the only known survivor of this unusual and adaptable Woods style. Buick was the core of General Motors from its founding by Billy Durant until the present. The earliest motorized buggies from David Buick were powered by horizontal engines with valve in head construction, a significant departure from the side valve, atmospheric intake valves of most of its contemporaries. Uniquely, Buick stayed with valve in head engines throughout its history, first going to vertical fours, then sixes and ultimately eights, first inline and then the famous nail head V-8 of the early Fifties. Famed for their reliability, silence and power Buick frequently approached sales volumes of its low priced contemporaries, offering value, quality and style that appealed to the American middle class. In 1928 the Master Six was Buicks top model. Redesigned for the marques 25th anniversary, the cars featured crowned fenders, bullet-style headlight shells, a lower chassis and hydraulic shocks. This Opera Coupe is an unusual combination of elegance and practicality and as an attractive older restoration offers style and value. Its history is known from the early 70s and it has benefited from a quality older restoration that has won it several awards including First Prize at the Crestwood Lake Anniversary Meet in 1984 and a 1974 Smoke Rise Antique Car Show award. The seating arrangement distinguishes this Fisher Body design with a comfortable drivers seat, a lightweight folding front passengers seat and seating for two in the rear offset to the right for more legroom and easier entry and exit from the righthand side. Fabulous 1939 Packard Darrin Convertible Convertible Victoria. Best of Show Winner! In the late 1930s, the coachbuilt era, for all intents and purposes, drew to a close. Before it did, however, some of the most exciting cars of the period appeared, exemplified by the famed Darrin Packards, with bodies by famed designer Howard A. Dutch Darrin. Today, Darrins creations are best known for their lovely lines and the distinctive Darrin Dip in the doors. His initial designs on the Packard 120 chassis were an unqualified triumph of modern design, and quickly, his order backlog began to grow. This 1939 Packard 120 Darrin Convertible Victoria is in excellent condition, having undergone a restoration spanning the latter part of 2006 and early 2007. The restoration was primarily cosmetic in scope, with the Packard requiring only minor mechanical attention. Stripped to bare metal, the bodywork was thoroughly prepared, repainted, color-sanded and buffed. During the process, a section of original paint was discovered, so it was decided to repaint the Packard in its original yellow. A new tan convertible top and boot were fitted, and the burled wood dash was refinished. The burgundy leather interior continues to show quite nicely. Other features include a Lalique mascot and the original Packard radio (upgraded with solid-state internals). Although the early history of the car is unknown, a former owner was able to trace it back to 1981, when Tiny Gould brokered its sale from Mr. J.J. Thompson in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the Imperial Palace Collection in Las Vegas. The Packard would change ownership two more times before it was treated to a partial restoration in 1999 and then acquired by the next owner. In early 2007, the car joined a highly regarded private collection, where it has remained ever since. It is believed that only about eight Model 1701 Packard Eights were given the Darrin Convertible Victoria treatment. Furthermore, it appears only 30 Packard Darrins were produced in Hollywood between 1937 and 1941 (later cars were produced by Packard in Connersville, Indiana). These numbers include five built in 1940 and one built for Errol Flynn in 1941. Darrins cars are extremely popular today. They offer the drivability of Packards excellent prewar chassis combined with the panache of Darrins rakish body design. This 1968 Plymouth GTX is a beautifully restored car with lots of detail and hard work going in the restoration. Unlike many muscle cars from the 1960s, this car is a bit of a survivor. During the rotisserie restoration of the vehicle, the metal was in such good shape that only one trunk panel was replaced! Just check the fit and finish of those door panels, the hood and the trunk. This car has stellar lines and its due the great metal and not hours of steel rod gapping after the fact.

The restoration was an extensive one, starting with a body that was stripped down to a bare shell and media blasted. Every screw, nut and bolt on this beauty has been handled with care as the car was reassembled from the ground up. These cars have some very long panels and this beauty is straight as an arrow. The GTX was painted in its original color, Sunfire Yellow, which extends into all areas of the body including the trunk, engine compartment, unseen interior areas and the highly detailed undercarriage. The undercarriage is quite the site to see and the floor pans are gorgeous. All of the glass, trim, seals, rubber, felts etc...are brand new, as are all of the interior panels, seat covers, headliner and carpeting. The car interior features bucket seats, console and the lighting package to boot.

The motor in the GTX is the numbers matching 440 that originally came with the car, with the VIN correctly stamped at the back of the block where the transmission bolts up. The transmission is correct for the year however, we are unable to verify its originality to this GTX car at this time. The rear end is the 8 3/4 housing with 3.23 posi gears. All drive train components were rebuilt during the restoration and the car runs phenomenally. During the restoration, a 3rd core was added to the radiator to soup up the cooling capacity a bit and the car cools very efficiently. All brake and suspension components were restored at well and the car really drives out well. The brakes are excellent and she is as at home on the highway and she is on the streets. The motor has great pep and this GTX behaves like the muscle car it is.

1957 Jaguar XK 140 Open Two Seater (OTS) Roadster VIN: 813203 The time came in 1954 to update and improve the groundbreaking XK120. After taking in the shortcomings of their austere sports car Jaguar came up with it successor, the XK140. It was a brilliant piece of engineering aimed directly at the American market. Cooling systems were improved along with better performance, a sturdier body, upgraded brakes, more legroom, and rack-and-pinion steering. The sleek, flowing lines from the XK120 were maintained with the only visual changes being more significant bumpers, and the "wide stripe" grille. The result is one of the finest and best looking sports cars ever produced. This exceptional roadster benefited from a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration in 2006. The body was removed from the chassis, and then set up on a rotisserie for a bare metal strip and refinish. All the doors, fenders, hood, trunk lid, and component pieces were test fit multiple times to ensure precision body gaps and panel match. The body was shot in the period correct color of Pearl Grey and then reassembled. $38,500 worth of work resulted in a stunning paint job and show winning fit and finish. The body wasnt the only part of the car to receive such fine treatment. The engine also experienced a thorough and professional rebuild that included new bearings, timing chains, valves, valve springs, pistons and rings. And since engine beauty isnt just piston deep all of the exterior aluminum was appropriately polished to a mirror like finish. Brakes were overhauled, and then improved with addition of stainless steel brake lines and hoses. The suspension received a complete rebuild including an upgrade with polyurethane bushings. Even the chassis was stripped down and repainted to stunning effect. This roadsters chassis, engine, gearbox and body numbers are correctly matching to the original builders plate. The twin overhead camshaft 3442cc inline 6 pulls strong through the 4 speed sycromesh transmission, and sounds magnificent barking through the upgraded duel stainless steel exhaust system. In case rain catches you off guard this roadster has a fitted soft top with side curtains to keep you dry, or if you are feeling a bit more adventurous the tonneau cover will protect the interior while you brave the elements. Few cars deliver the true, original sports car experience better than the XK 140. Whether it is the wind in your hair, or the power and handling at your fingertips you are never disappointed driving an XK. 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Vin# 9113600488 Engine# 6630487 Transmission# 7830485 Porsche is always at its best when met with a racing challenge. The immensely collectable 73 Carrera RS is the result of such a challenge. Built as a response to Ferraris 365 GTB Daytona Competizione, Porsche created the light, nimble, and quick RennSport 2.7. Of course the new race car needed to be homologated for FIA Group 4 racing to take on (and ultimately defeat) the big Ferrari. According to the rules Porsche needed to build 500 road cars to meet the requirements. In 1972-73 a special production run of 500 cars handily accomplished the task. This RS is one of those first 500. Originally sold in Italy in 1973 this early RS is a M472 code Touring version. Being a first-run Touring chassis it shares some of the features of the rarer M471 Sport lightweight such as the lighter doors, roof, hood, and fenders. In 1974 this RSs flirtation with Italy ended when it journeyed half way around the world and found itself in a private Japanese collection. #488 stayed in Japan until 2005 when a wily American collector pried the car free from it Nipponese home and brought it to the States. When it arrived in the US the rare RS was immediately slated for a total restoration. Before the work began a thorough inspection ensued with excellent results. It was confirmed that this first series car had the correct lighter body panels and doors, with matching numbers engine and transmission. The body had mostly original paintwork with no rust or accident damage. The undercoat was intact and had done a good job of protecting the car over the 32 years. It was encouraging that the car ran well and did not have any missing parts. Once the pre-restoration inventory was complete the real work began in the Fall of 2005; a project that would continue for the next 6 years. The RS was first stripped to its component parts and then media blasted to remove the trappings of over 30 years of use. Once clean the bare body was sealed, primed and finished in single stage black as per the original color code. The underside was undercoated to the original first series specs down to the correct brush marks. While the bodywork commenced the engine was torn down and inspected. The internals were found to be original, clean and without damage. During the reassembly new valves, valve springs, valve guides, rings, main bearing, timing gear, pump gears, regulator and a 930 kit for tensioners were installed. In total, all of the main moving parts except the crank, pistons and rods were replaced. The engine was then reattached to its numbers matching transmission, which had been opened, inspected and no problems found. Before the transmission was reassembled it was treated to new bearings, seals, and clutch. Now with the major components ready final reassembly could commence. After hundreds of hours of work the RS began to take shape once again. All the new parts were sourced from Porsche if available, and even the smallest parts were reused or replaced so the car would be as close as possible to new 1973 factory condition. Even the nuts, bolts and washers were yellow zincked as required to be correct. The original glass was refitted and all rubber seals replaced. A NOS Hirschman antenna was installed along with the factory radio, and new exterior lens and headlights. The appropriately refinished suspension was completed with new bushings, Bilstein shocks, front A-arms, Lobro CV axles, and Turbo steering rods. From front to rear a new brake system was install down to hoses and hard lines. The car finally came to rest on its staggered 7& 8 wheels refinished as per the original specs, and shod with new Pirelli P6000 tires. The final piece of the puzzle was the interior. Every effort was made to reuse or recreate the original interior to the smallest specification. Rather than using premade kits, an interior expert trained in the original techniques restored the interior from OEM materials including the carpet, roof lining, and vinyl. A new OEM dash was installed, and the original sports seats were stripped and powder coated before being reupholstered and repadded. Door panels were recovered in matching vinyl, and the fragile cardboard doorcards were replaced with aluminum panels for longevity. Finally completed in 2011 the Carrera attended a few shows including the Monterey Historics, and has been gone over by experts who have found no issues with the meticulous restoration. At the outset of this amazing transformation the owner had no intention of selling his pride and joy. With this in mind he intentionally went over the top with the restoration. Now that it has left his hands you can benefit from his immense investment of time and resources. The 1973 Carrera RS is a true collectable and one of the most rewarding Porsches to drive and own. The 500-mile service has been performed and #488 is ready to dominate Ferraris once again. Looking mean and sounding positively evil, this killer black and blue Chevelle rolled off GMs Atlanta, Georgia assembly line during the first week of January, 1970 to begin life as a simple V8 Malibu sport coupe. For years it would soldier on with a tepid black cloth interior and a not-so-appealing combination of Fathom and Astro Blue exterior paint. Last year, we decided to spice things up a bit and commissioned Jims Chevelle Alley in Urbana, Ohio to restore it to better than new condition and turn it into a top notch LS6 tribute. Once the body was arrow straight, a slick coat of Phantom Blue paint was applied along with GM code 19 Tuxedo Black SS stripes and buffed to the mirror-like shine you see here. Upon completion, the reborn Chevelle SS was shipped directly to our RK Motors Charlotte showroom where the stares havent stopped, the jaws continue to drop, and it looks like a million bucks from every angle!

Arguably the most popular year for Chevelles, 1970 featured dual headlights, curvaceous quarters, and a tidy greenhouse that almost gives the car a fastback appearance. At the front of the car youll find perfect new T3 headlights with new chrome housings at the sides a stainless trimmed grille which hangs a prominent new SS emblem above a showroom fresh front bumper. Behind that grille, a functional and correct cowl induction hood props new hood pins and correct Cowl Induction badging in front of all new glass that is bordered by pristine stainless trim and correct option B90 chrome drip rails. At the sides of the car, new SS454 badges with white and red inlays combine with fresh stainless steel wheel well trim, chrome GM door handles and a correct chrome drivers side mirror to add nice visual details to the cars liquid smooth body. And at the back of the car, a new chrome Chevelle by Chevrolet emblem hangs over new brake lights, a new body-width chrome bumper which features a great looking black Super Sport inlay, and traditional stainless exhaust tips that ensure this Chevelle is both seen and heard.

In 1970 the LS6 Turbo Fire 454 in the Chevelle Super Sport was conservatively rated at 450 horsepower but likely produced well over 500. This cars ferocious sounding 454 has been accurately built and detailed to fool all but the most enlightened classic car fans. Give the hood pins a solid pull and youll find a fully functional cowl induction system thats cleanly integrated into a completely finished satin black hood. At the center of that cowl induction system, a correctly decaled satin black air cleaner forces air into a Holley four barrel carburetor which sits on a correct Winter aluminum intake. At the back of the intake, a correct points distributor sends spark through Standard Triple Silicone wires which snake around a new set of factory correct chrome valve covers and correct reproduction exhaust manifolds. At the front of the engine, reproduction GM hoses with correct tower clamps channel water to and from the radiator; and new V-belts spin a fresh alternator and a correct Frigidaire AC compressor behind a correct fan and correct shroud. From its correct reproduction Delco Energizer battery and new wiring harness to its Delco Moraine branded brake booster and highly accurate decals, this engine bay is as well done as anything that left GMs factories. And Im willing to bet it would take the average muscle car connoisseur quite a bit of time to realize that this cars Chevy Orange 454 wasnt bolted in on the assembly line over 40 years ago.

Underneath the car, youll find a factory fresh chassis and floorpans that, like the cars exterior panels and LS6 engine, have been restored to the absolute highest standards. A top notch M22 Muncie rock crusher 4-speed transmission sends power to an era correct 12 bolt Posi-Traction rear end with pavement pounding 4.11 gears. Bolted to that chassis is a factory correct suspension that was fully rebuilt during the restoration and equipped with correct power steering, drilled and slotted power front discs and correct power rear drums. Exhaust is handled by a mandrel bent aluminized system which runs from the cars correct gray manifolds to great sounding Flowmaster dual chamber mufflers and new stainless tips. And fresh fuel lines send fuel from a new stainless tank to the Holley carburetor while new stainless brake lines carry fluid from the Delco brake booster to all four corners of the car. Connecting this awesome Chevelle to the pavement is four new G70-14 Goodyear Polyglas radials that are mounted around 14 inch Super Sport II rally wheels, pristine stainless trim rings and authentic SS center caps.

Inside this great looking Chevelle, youll find a fully restored black vinyl interior which is 100% ready for show! During the restoration all the cars weathered and worn panels were completely replaced with new pieces, and the solid floors were covered with new black carpet. Like-new black bucket seats provide an excellent contrast against the cars blue exterior paint and, along with slick new door panels, feature show worthy stainless trim and factory fresh chrome handles. Overhead, factory correct seat belts are tucked into their clips below a tight-fitting headliner; and between the seats, a pristine black console houses a chrome Hurst shifter and white cue ball knob inside of excellent looking satin finished trim. At the front of the car, a straight black dash hangs a new black instrument panel with crystal clear gauges above a factory correct AM radio and chrome trimmed vents for the cars heater and r34 equipped air conditioning system. In front of the driver, a tilt steering column holds an excellent looking reproduction GM rally wheel above great looking chrome trimmed foot pedals. And behind the cockpit, a fully restored trunk features correct spatter paint, a new houndstooth mat, and a correct jack and spare tire.

Documented, numbers matching Chevelle Super Sport LS6s are excellent collector cars. But why pay upwards of $125K for man cave decoration when you can own the road in this fire-breathing LS6 tribute for half the price? Time to think outside the Ford box. This 1935 Chevrolet 3-window coupe is for the guy who loves the classic shape, but thinks the Ford 3-window is just too ordinary. Thanks to the guys at Outlaw Fiberglass, its possible to build a super-clean 3-window coupe with Bowtie DNA flowing through its veins, and this black and red rod has been stuffed full of all the best parts to create a unique Chevy that can be driven cross-country and shown at a national level.

Finished in classic red over black, theres no doubt that this pro-built rod is ready for prime time. As good as fiberglass bodies have gotten, you dont get a rod this nice by just pulling it out of the crate and spraying paint. There are hundreds of hours tied up in the surface of this Chevy, buffing, sanding, fitting, adjusting, and polishing, and it has really paid off big. The shape is familiar, but subtly different than what you expect, which is exactly what this Chevy is about. Fit and finish are superb, and the upright Chevy grille combined with the solid hood sides gives it a cool long nose/short deck look thats pure hot rod. The paint is two-stage urethane, and as a result the finish is deep enough to swim in, with a beautifully executed and superbly simple silver pinstripe dividing the red and black layers. Body mods include shaved emblems and door handles, a flush-fitting gas cap lid, and the slight rake on the roof, giving the side windows a subtle wedge shape. A billet grille and large headlights give it a smooth yet old-fashioned look that I like a lot more than the tiny King Bee headlights on most rods, and the tail lights appear to lifted from a 1937 Ford for a period-correct look.

The great thing about building a Chevy rod is that you wont hear any critics complaining that the engine doesnt match the body. In this case, theres a 350 Ram Jet under the three-piece steel hood, and it has been fully detailed to match the body. A lot of work went into hiding the plumbing and electrical under color-matched and hand-fabricated steel covers. The distinctive Ram Jet intake makes big power and torque, yet idles like a production car thanks to modern fuel injection technology. The polished accessories and serpentine belt drive are from Billet Specialties, while the air cleaner, water pump neck, and fuel line are from Street and Performance. A big aluminum Walker radiator keeps it cool, assisted by a powerful electric fan, and theres a transmission cooler stashed up front as well. The thing that strikes you most is how well-coordinated and designed it all is, the essence of hot rodding, but executed to a very high standard.

Underneath, however, youll find a genuine 1935 Chevrolet frame, suitably enhanced for use under the coupe body. The transmission is a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive, so it cruises effortlessly, and out back theres a Currie 9-inch rear thats been finished to show standards, and youll note the oil pan, transmission pan, and rear end sport matching finned aluminum. The front suspension is a standard hot rod setup with upper and lower A-arms and coil-over springs, while the rear is suspended on a polished 4-bar. The entire exhaust system has been ceramic coated, so itll look that good forever, and a custom aluminum fuel tank was fabricated just for this car and feeds the small block up front thanks to -6 braided stainless lines. Billet Specialties also handled the rolling stock, with staggered 17x6 front and 20x9 rear wheels wearing 205/40/17 and 245/40/20 performance radials, respectively.

Blazing red leather is the interior theme, and the execution is flat-out jaw-dropping. Created by Chuck Hanna, the incredible drivers compartment is built around a pair of deeply bolstered Acura Integra sport seats that have been fully refinished, including the knobs and controls. Artful door panels continue the exterior theme, with black and red leather separated by aluminum trim that matches the billet door handles. Stewart-Warner gauges were fitted to the smoothed dash, along with a pair of cool eyeball vents for the Vintage Air HVAC system. An Ididit steering column has been topped by a matching red leather wheel, while a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo head unit is housed in its own overhead console. The trunk is not just a place for luggage and tools anymore, either, with matching red and black leather, sculpted panels, and trick polished hinges with hydraulic struts.

All the paperwork and manuals that came with the various components that went into this rod are all included with the sale of the car. This is extremely important for future servicing, and makes this one of the most thoroughly documented builds weve featured in a long time.
